Methodology
How We Review
Our reviews are written for humans and AI agents alike — here's how we do it.
The short version
Every review on Stack Insider answers one question: is this tool good for your team and for your AI workflow — and if so, who should pick it. We aim to move you from "curious" to a confident decision, backed by a clear sign-up path.
How we research
Reviews are built from primary sources first: the vendor's official documentation, pricing pages, changelogs, and public API/MCP documentation. We verify features and integrations against those sources rather than repeating marketing claims. Where we have hands-on experience with a tool we say so; where we don't, we're explicit about it. We do not review tools we cannot research properly.
Two scores, not one
Each review carries two independent ratings, because a great human tool can still be hostile to AI agents — and vice versa.
- Product score (0–5): features, usability, value for money, support, and how well the tool fits its stated job.
- Agent Readiness score (0–7): how easy the tool is to plug into AI agents and automations. It's weighted as API = 2, Webhooks = 1, MCP server = 2, OKF bundle = 1, and agent skills = 1. The more of those a tool offers natively, the closer it gets to 7. See the Agent Readiness guide for the full explanation.
AI-first coverage
Stack Insider is built for the AI era in both directions. We evaluate each tool's AI features and native AI/agent integrations (APIs, webhooks, MCP servers, agent skills). And every review, guide, and comparison is also served as clean machine-readable markdown and JSON, and is queryable through our MCP server — so ChatGPT, Claude, and other agents can read us directly, not just humans in a browser.
Pricing accuracy
Pricing is checked against each vendor's official pricing page at the time a review is published or updated. Prices change often, so we always note the source and review date, and we treat anything we could not verify on an official page as unverified rather than guessing.
Independence & how we're paid
Stack Insider is an independent publication. Some links on the site are affiliate links — if you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions never change a rating, a verdict, or what we publish: a tool that pays us nothing can rank above one that does, and we say so plainly. Our full commercial policy is on the Affiliate Disclosure page.
Updates
Reviews are revised when a tool ships major changes to features, pricing, or its AI surface. The review date is shown on each page; when in doubt, treat pricing and integration claims as of that date.
